Title: North and South
The story tells of the relationship between Margaret Hale, a girl from the old rural south, and John Thornton, a
mill owner from the new industrial north. Margaret is forced to move from her childhood home in Helston in the South of England
to the industrial town of Milton in the North of England, where, gradually, she comes to see that many of her preconceptions
about the North and working men may not be quite accurate.
