What have I read?

February 25, 2005
After having read three of his books I now definitely know I'm a Charles Dickens fan. I already suspected as much but now I know for sure.

Good read.

Loved it.
Pretends to be a book but in my opinion it's more like a chapter. A very interesting chapter leading into what could be a very interesting story but still only a chapter. Good marketing strategy, though.

Didn't really grabe me. Some of the male characters I just couldn't stand which made it more difficult for me to get into the story.

OnmagiŽr door W.J. Maryson (Dutch).
Nice story, very promising but I'll reserve judgement at least until I've read the next book.

Good story. Prime holiday read. On my list of writers worth buying.

This is a real 'edge of your seat'-book. Very well written, reads like a train but not really my kind of book. Surprising conclusion but I didn't really care for the ending.

This book was different from the books I normally read (mostly fantasy, chicklit and children's books), but I certainly wouldn't mind reading more by Lisa.

Already loving this one. I'm reading the big, hardback version which can make taking it on the train a little harder than usual but well worth the effort.
I needed a book that wasn't too heavy or long to take on the train 'cause I spent most of my day on the train going from one place to another and back again. Very good choice. Read first half going one way and the second half going back.

Finished The Druid of Shannara, started Abhorsen and am already hooked. Pity there are only three books in this series (plus one sort of spin-off coming out sometime this year; see Garth Nix: Bibliography). Definitely one to read again, and again (and again).

At the moment I'm (still) reading The Druid of Shannara by Terry Brooks. This is Book Two of The Heritage of Shannara series. This is the second time I've read this book, but the first time in English. I really like this series but at the moment I can't wait to finish this book because I want to start in Abhorsen by Garth Nix, third book in the Old Kingdom series. I've been wanting to read that book for ages but I only just got it for my birthday.
