Title: Our Mutual Friend
Charles Dickens's last completed novel tells the story of a young man, John Harmon, who must
marry a stranger in order to win his inheritance. Coming home from abroad to claim his inheritance, he is found dead
in the river Thames leaving his fortune to Mr and Mrs Boffin and leaving his future wife, Bella, without a penny.
The story follows the lives of all connected to the Harmon fortune and murder, from Mr and Mrs Boffin to Bella to Lizzy, the
daughter of the man who found the body. Dickens gives us his most profoundly cynical, yet brilliantly funny, insight
into the corruption of wealth on human nature.
